Formerly a sporting lodge used by members of the Royal Family, this country house hotel and restaurant is ideally situated in the heart of the picturesque Scottish Highlands.
Dalrachney Lodge Hotel and Restaurant offers 4-star facilities and services in a magnificent setting, centrally located for a memorable stay amongst typical Scottish countryside. Dating from 1845, the lodge is today set in 16 acres of peaceful surroundings, bordered on 2 sides by the River Dulnain. No modern extensions or accommodation annexes will be found here - only the original buildings.
The hotel is situated on the outskirts of the historic village of Carrbridge, close to the train station and easily accessible from the A9 that leads to the city of Inverness. Queen Victoria once described the village as ‘the jewel of the North’ and when you come to stay at the hotel you will soon realise why.
Dating from 1845, Dalrachney Lodge was, up to 1970, a sporting lodge central to one of Scotland’s largest estates. Additions were made to the building through the turn of the century, linking the Victorian and Edwardian periods. Many members of the Royal Family have stayed here as private guests of the Estate owner, including King George V who was a keen sportsman. His gun cart as used here can be seen in a local museum.

The rooms at the hotel have been individually furnished and decorated to enhance their character. A mix of double, twin and family rooms ensure that the hotel meets your particular requirements, also in respect of non-smokers. Superior rooms are generously proportioned with seating areas. All rooms are equipped with standard 4-star facilites and have private bathrooms and/or showers with complimentary toiletries. There are views over the grounds and the river to the Cairngorm Mountains.
A mix of traditional and contemporary styling retaining many of the features of an Edwardian Country House, with rooms overlooking the garden, to the river and hills beyond. The availability of these rooms is on the basis of a 3-day minimum stay in the festive holiday period between 23rd December and 2nd January. Reservations made at this time cannot be cancelled and must be paid at the time of booking.
The hotel offers a bistro bar for informal dining, and a restaurant for more formal dining.
The hotel is located 2 km off the A9 central Highland trunk route (Perth to Inverness), 23 miles south of Inverness and 5 miles north of Aviemore.
By Car:
- Take the Carrbridge exit off the A9 and follow signs to Carrbridge.
- The hotel is located and signed directly opposite the Carrbridge Golf Course on the A938 set back from the road in its own grounds.
